But thankfully, not too quickly, before, we could photograph these tracks in the snow...
WOLF print's in the snow
We have been very aware that there is a wolf in the vicinity...although we have never seen it.
In the autumn we thought we saw tracks and wolf droppings but couldn't be too sure, until we invested in a copy of Animal Tracks and Signs (Bang and Dahlstrom) Foreward by Ray Mears and were able to identify for sure. Our neighbours 1km away saw some wolf tracks back in December too. Apparently there is a male and female pair who are trying to mark out their territory, they are tagged and so the local animal agency is fully aware of their movements, infact 10 days ago we saw someone tracking them on a snowskooter, following these very tracks above. We also learnt from another neighbour yesterday that there is also a lone male wolf in the area too...
