MINUS - 32.2 NO BAD WEATHER...ONLY BAD CLOTHES...

Like most of Europe and the world in fact...Sweden has been experiencing some really cold, well freezing temperatures, that they haven't seen at this time of year, all over the country, for a long time.  Temperatures have not reached above -20 for the whole day.  Therefore the ski-slope was shut, and probably willl be for the remainder of the week, much to the boys disappointment.  They really were hoping to make the most of ski-ing before they go back to school next week.  Never mind.

As I currently write it is -32.2.  However, the fire is roaring and radiators will be burning all through the night to keep us at a fairly reasonable and cosy room temperature of  + 16.  Once we are snuggled, cosy under our thick duvet...it's fine.

The Friday before Christmas, our temperature gauge hit -33.7 sooo... Jon's hoping we might break our record.  Brrrrrr....

We live in the centre of Sweden, in a culturally rich and tradtional farming area known as Halsingland.  It's right next door to it's better known neighbour Darlarna.  (Where the Dala hast - the famous brightly painted wooden horses come from!).  Apparently, with no cloud cover, temperatures are expected to plummet to -40 yes -40!!! Wednesday/Thursday, in this particular area and it's only 60km away from us.

Yesterday, was a completely different story.  The boys were ski-ing all day in a balmy -7, with a smuttering of Sno.  We safely left them on the slopes, whilst Jon and I ventured into our nearest town.

                                   SKI-ING TILL THE SLOPES CLOSE!!

We headed for the Loppis.  I found some beautiful traditional Swedish textiles... linen runners...to be precise.  Look out for them coming soon on http://www.simplyswedishvintage.blogspot.com/
