It has been some considerable time since I last wrote. AND I wish I had booked those flights and gone for Christmas and New Year... CREDIT CRUNCH and all that. I was being far too sensible. Anyhow a merry festive season was spent in England and lots of fun had by all, as you never know it could be our last one here....
Lots of what if this and what if that is being discussed in our household, in light of the present, current economic situation in England and Sweden and the whole wide world. We have a PLAN A and a PLAN B. And just been checking out flights to go to the house for EASTER holidays.
The North Sweden has been experiencing a cold winter -38 degrees the other night and you think it's cold here! But we just soo love it cant wait to go ski-ing. Hopefully still plenty of snow around in April and we can have some fun down-hill and tobogganing and on the snowmobil (FIRST job to do when we arrive BUY or RENT one)
Despite their northerly location, the climate in Norway and in Sweden is temperate. It is often colder than in the Alps, but thanks to the warming effects of the Gulf Stream flowing along the Norwegian coast and because of the low air humidity the cold here is pleasant and dry. The average day temperature in the winter is USUALLY between -2ºC and -8ºC.
Daylight hours during the winter months are often much longer than people think. There is of course less daylight during December and January, but it is still possible to have a full day's skiing if you don't delay getting out. The sun rises around 7.30 am and sets around 6.30 pm in February. And in April it doesn't get dark til 8 ish. SO LOADS OF SKI-ing
